Moosalp · Bürchen-Törbel

The Moosalp is the high plateau above Bürchen and Törbel, about a three-quarter-hour drive via Visp and the Mattertal. The region comprises four villages, Bürchen, Törbel, Embd and Zeneggen, working together under the name Moosalp region. What you get up here is space: the pass summit sits at just over two thousand metres with open views of the Bietschhorn, the Mischabel group, the Weisshorn group and the Dom.

The ski area has twenty-five kilometres of piste between 1,476 and 2,532 metres, split into ten kilometres of blue, ten of red and five of black, served by seven lifts including a chairlift. Fourteen snow cannons and four piste groomers keep it snow-sure; the area runs on around seventy thousand skier days a season with four permanent staff, close to twenty-five seasonal workers and around twenty volunteer retirees. A day pass cost CHF 53 in the 2025/26 season, and the Magic Pass has been valid here since 2023.

Alongside downhill skiing there's night skiing, a cross-country trail of around eight kilometres around the pass summit, a snowshoe route to the Stand viewpoint, and a toboggan run from the Bürchner Alp back to the village. At Bodmen is MoosAlbi's Kinderparadies, the children's area with its own lift. Riding along in the piste groomer is also possible.

In summer the Magic Moos Tour is the area's real find: a GPS treasure hunt via an app, with variants starting from Bürchen, from Törbel and as a circular walk, which keeps children happily walking without complaint. There are also the Birkenlehrpfad and the Eichhörnchenweg nature trails, mountain bike routes across the plateau linking into the Lunggi Trail near Eischoll, and, down in the villages, mini-golf, tennis, a fitness trail and a climbing wall.
