Villa Cassel and the Aletsch Forest

Villa Cassel is an early twentieth-century mansion standing at two thousand metres on the Riederfurka, now home to Pro Natura's nature centre. In 2026 it's open from 13 June to 18 October, with exhibitions on the glacier, the climate and alpine flora. Right next door begins the Aletsch Forest, a reserve of Arolla pines that are centuries old. The walk from Riederalp to the villa is short and level, manageable with children too. The view over the glacier from the terrace is among the finest in the region.
