Rottenweg along the young Rhône

The Rottenweg follows the Rhône, still called the Rotten here, for almost twenty kilometres from Oberwald to Niederwald, and is walkable in both summer and winter. The path is flat and wide enough for a pushchair or a bike, making it one of the few genuinely accessible mountain walks. Along the way you pass through every village in the valley, so you can join or leave the route at any point and take the train back. In winter the path is groomed. Allow five and a half hours for the full route.
