From the Furka Pass to the Rhône Glacier
From the Furka Pass at 2,235 metres, a 3.64-kilometre route leads to the Rhône Glacier, source of the river that eventually flows into the Mediterranean. The walk takes about two hours and descends a net of just over three hundred metres. At the glacier front, an ice grotto has been carved into the ice that you can walk into. The pass is only open in summer, roughly from June to October. Combine the drive with the Grimsel or Nufenen Pass for one of Switzerland's most spectacular day trips.
