Eggishorn viewpoint

From Fiescheralp a cable car takes you to the mountain station at 2,869 metres; a short walk continues to the true summit at 2,926 metres. From there the Aletsch Glacier stretches out before you in its full length: twenty kilometres of ice, up to eight hundred metres thick at the Konkordiaplatz, with the Jungfraujoch on the horizon. Forty four-thousand-metre peaks are in view. No other viewpoint in the region comes close. Worth knowing: the cable car is being replaced, with reopening planned for December 2028.
