Belalp
To the summit of the Sparrhorn
At 3,021 metres, the Sparrhorn is a three-thousand-metre peak you can climb without rope or glacier equipment, which is rare in the Alps. The route starts at Belalp's mountain station and climbs a signposted mountain path to the summit in around three hours. At the top you look straight along the Great Aletsch Glacier, with the 4,194-metre Aletschhorn directly opposite. The final stretch is steep and rocky, so sturdy boots are not a luxury. For many guests this is the walk they talk about longest afterwards.
