Swimming in the Bettmersee

The Bettmersee is a 5.5-hectare alpine lake at 2,006 metres where you can genuinely swim, rare at this altitude. In summer the water warms enough to stay in for more than a minute, though it remains cool. A flat walking path of around two kilometres circles it, manageable even with a pushchair. There are lawns and a small beach. In winter, the cross-country ski trail runs across the very same spot.
